Make sure you have OpenOffice installed and running as a service so it
can do the file conversion on the fly. If you're in Windows, I
recently posted some details on how to do this:
https://groups.google.com/d/topic/openmeetings-user/2qBwrC5uERg/discussion

Hi,

Also, during the installation if you left the path textboxes empty, you
should fill them under the administration part configuration part. And
then it would work properly.

Hi,

   Openoffice settings are given here:

   http://code.google.com/p/openmeetings/wiki/OpenOfficeConverter

You should fill the working path of  Imagemagick, sox, FFMpeg and etc.. They all should be filled.

_Mahmut

Cause I am newbie, would you please what exactly should I fill in textboxes???

Hasan,

You will need to enter the full path to the executable for each of these
tools. If you don't know what they are, you can type the following in a
console window:
$ which <app>
where <app> is the name of the executable. Imagemagick is "convert",
sox is "sox", and ffmpeg is "ffmpeg". On my Ubuntu 10.04 machine, the
paths are /usr/bin/convert, /usr/bin/sox, and /usr/bin/ffmpeg. That is
probably the case on yours, too, but it wouldn't hurt to check in case
you have custom packages installed. For swftools, that is a set of
applications, so you may just need to set the path, but not the app
also. It's probably /usr/bin.

Somebody else can clarify for me. Am I wrong about including the
executable name for these settings, do you just need the base path?

Hi Seth and Hasan,

Hasan sorry for your last message but I missed I dont know why.

Seth you should not include the application name inside the paths
because the system is including it and if you include names of the apps
you take an error saying that ".../..../ffmpeg/ffmpeg not found" kind of
thing. You can check the problem from the logs and given error messages.
You should be sure about the exact paths in your system.

Seth has given how to check the paths correctly, I think.

_Mahmut

Mahmut,

Thank you for the clarification. I'm just diving into this myself and
documentation is not always easy to interpret correctly.

Hi,

This is usually because of Openoffice headless working issue. Have configured openoffice properly and it is working?

Check this page carefully and post the results ok.

Install whatever version of openoffice is packaged for your
distribution. Most modern distros should have some release of 3.x.
You'll need a script to invoke OOo in headless mode, using the
commandline flags in the first section of the wiki page Mahmut
indicated. To test if your script works, run "netstat -nl" in a
terminal window and look for a line that looks like this:
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:8100 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN

If you want the service to start automatically when the server boots,
you'll need to create an init script to do it. See your distro
documentation on how to do this.
