Hello,

i am looking at using Openmeeting as a remote E-Learning plattform (due to the difficulty of finding more matching products). Maybe you guys could tell me if it could work our for this scenario:

We have a regular student class room where a teacher is having a class. In this class we have audio and video (beamers). Both signals can be exported via an extron media vga matrix switcher.

In addition to this there will be a webcam/ipcam which is recording the entire room (for showing what the teacher is doing, writing on a board etc.)

The remote students should be able to watch both video inputs and hear the sound. They should be able to provide questions via chat. I am not intimate with Openmeeting enough to judge whether it makes sense to look deeper into the solution, maybe you guys could give me some hints :-)

regards,

rk

You will need to build your custom media-converter to have the *extron
media vga matrix switcher* as Flash Stream in High Definition. I think
with Flash Media Encoder it might work.

You might find it easier to "capture" directly from the "display"
computer rather than encode a VGA stream from your "matrix switcher"

That said you would also need a method of encoding the feed from your
"room camera" as well.

I can certainly see how the idea for both feeds comes from, but have
you also considered how this might be viewed on a "student" laptop
with an "average" display ?

Cheers
