Hello!
Does anybody know how to configurate correctly SIP settings in OpenMeetings?
I can't do this because it always tells that "SIP applet is not ready".

What does your SIP Server infractructure look like?
We provide no out of the box run anywhere environment.
Did you see the information regarding that topic on our website:
http://www.openmeetings.de/plugins-integration/#voip

?

Yes, I saw this information.
I want to configure OM with some SIP server. It is not my own server so I don't know its infractructure.

I thought that I can go to the administration area and set up some SIP settings (sip.enable = "yes", sip.realm = "host" etc.) and everything will work. Isn't it?

No, you can imagine that you need the full control about the SIP
environment, how should it otherwise work in a conference room? I mean
if you create a conference room in openmeetings you also need a SIP
Conference room so that everybody can use this conference room and you
have some dial in number that users can use.

So you need a possibility to create a SIP conference room from
openmeetings using some kind of RPC Gateway or similar that the SIP
Server provides to create SIP Users and SIP Conference rooms.

So, what this VoIP integration used for? How to use it? I still don't understand.

Hi German,

okay let me rephrase it again:

Have you a SIP server?
Does you SIP Server provide a RPC/SOAP/Any Gateway to create SIP Users
and Conferences?

With a 1-2-3 SIP account at some SIP Provider it will of course not
work to integrate a Conference Server with it.

Ок, Sebastian. Here is my vision of situation...

Integration of SIP with OpenMeetings is implemented by such way:
1) OM has special settings in the administration area which describe a SIP server. These settings contain describing of the server address.
2) Also these settings describe some xmlrpc. It is a mechanism that allows to redirect a media-data from OpenMeetings room to clients which are connected to the conference by their SIP cient.
3) The xmlrpc is a part of the SIP server.
4) There is a special room must be created in OpenMeetings that has a SIP number.

5) So, a client uses some SIP client, calls that number throug our SIP server and now he is connected to the conference.

Everything is correct?

Also I have founded a server "OpenSIPs". It supports xmlrpc. Have you ever heard about it?

Hi German,

we have done sth similar for somebody as a project.
It was using something similar like OpenSIPg but with some
extensions/customized.

We would be happy if you could pay an engineer that generalizes such a
solution and contributes it to the open source project :) Otherwise
you should contact somebody to provide you with commercial support.
But you should understand that you will need quite a bit of budget for
that ... I mean if you only calc the infrastructure that you need to
run such a service like a SIP server, connections to the land-lane et
cetera you easily cross 5000 Euros. And after those 5000 you come to
the really interesting points like scaling it up, tuning customizing
et cetera.

So my advice is that you should first check your budget, your proposal
really ends up in a quite big telecommunications project where you
need experts from different industries. No reliable consultant/company
would accept it for small budget or accept that kind of *vision* that
you have provided as "project requirements".
Our out of the box system sets up a browser based web-conferencing
framework. Comparisson with a VoIP Platform and all the infrastructure
that is behind it, is like comparing apples with oranges :))

Sebastian, I understand everything you talk.
But could you tell me please if OpenMeetings is integrated ONLY with OpenSIPg server? Or it could work with any SIP-server that has similar architecture?

German.

It could work with any SIP server that provides the needed API functionality to create SIP users and conference rooms.

Ok, thanks, Sebastian.
I was confused because the OpenMeetings code and administration settings contain a lot of "openxg" and "OpenSIPg" occurrences.
Why is this so? Because this functionality was tested using OpenSIPg or why?

yes it is all shaped to use that infrastructure and RPC Gateway of openSIPg
