I can not get mail to work - help?

I'm trying to get it to send authentication email - or any email in fact.

I have the smtp server and port set, user, and password.

However - it just seems to be ignored completly.

Nothing even in the log files ..

I'm on Windows XP, and everything else about the system seems to work ok?
