Subject: [MakerBot] Replicator in a server rack
To: make...@googlegroups.com

So my $2k Replicator is going to be used between me and a few buddies in my thesis studio this year in a semi controlled access environment (by semi I mean a key code door that's always seems to be open and landscape architecture students using the same space and what not). A solution to keep unwanted hands touching or firing up the Makerbot ive come with is to put it in a server cabinet on at least a 2U (50-75 lbs capacity standard) rack shelf and to be able to store and operate it while its inside.  The cabinet has both front and rear lockable doors (clear acrylic) and the top is open.  I think the width should work, 19" shelf width and a Replicator is 18 1/4".
Can anyone see this as a bad idea, such as thermal issues and stability?  I think we would like to be able to close the doors if we are gone and the machine is still running.
Thanks for any input!
