From the likes of Demetrio Siragusa (odesigncommunity.com) and Massimo
Menichinelli (openp2pdesign.org) is a open source hardware repository
site, odesigncommunity.com. Just wanted to let everyone know about it-
I found out about oDesign after Demetrio started following me on
twitter. I started to investigate some of the packages in the
repository, but as I looked closer and closer at the details, all of
the zip files are sporadically and randomly assembled. That is, you're
not really sure whether or not the same files are going to be in each
package, and if two people were to package the same thing, you'd get
wildly different information. So while it's nice to see the site, it
doesn't seem to implement anything akin to SKDB/unptnt.
Will products ever roam the web like MP3s?

If anything, this shows the urgency in discussing and coming up with
hardware packaging standards. There also seens to be an "open source
hardware app store" here:
http://www.liquidware.com/ (for electronics)
Interestingly enough, all liquidware.com zip files have the following
files: Components.txt, Illuminato.txt, Info.txt, License.txt,
Readme.txt, Url.txt. So that's at least a start. A rather poor one ..
why not include a typical BOM? Why not include the schematics, or
other metadata?
Okay, back to work.
