List members,

i m new to OMA. i have installed postfix etc,etc and hv created users
via commandline before.

Now , i would like to create a mailserver with SMTP ( postfix) and
IMAP ( dovecot) and use OMA as the interface admin.

My questions;

1. Can i use OMA to create users for postfix? Or the users i create
for dovecot will automatically be used for postfix.? Or the users i
create will be automatically available to both.
2. i plan to install horde groupware webmail edition and use OMA for
the email administration. Is this advisable. Anybody done this before?
3. The above questions may be dumb and i apologize in advance. But i m
a little confused.

Regards,
marco.

Don't get me wrong, mate, but all your questions are not OMA specific.
I suggest that you first understand how a mail server works, then read
the OMA documentation, test it, and answers will come for themselves.

That depends on your installation, on how you configure it. The usual
answer should be "yes".

Different stuff. Horde should not interfere with OMA at all. Still,
that does not mean it will always work out of the box.

The latter is considered as best practice. Although there are good exceptions.

It is not advisable, but you can do that. Just make sure you only use one tool for administration.

That will change as soon as you got your first mailserver running. Or the second, depends on the capacity for suffering of your accounts' holders. (No joke. Seriously. Argh, think as you please... I bet everyone of us did experience that.)
