Hello everyone!
I just wanted to let you all know I have been working on a new version of “OpenLoopz Web” for the last few months and I want to share with you what I have so far. Check it out at:
It’s early days and it is still a bit rough around the edges with many features missing and known bugs outstanding. Having said that, I believe the main concepts are in place now and I believe it can only be beneficial to the project to get it out as early as possible and hopefully generate some interest as I continue to develop it in the open going forward.
While this version looks and feels very different to what’s gone before on the surface, all of the core ideas that define the philosophy of OpenLoopz are are still there (or will be soon). I will be writing blog posts regularly going forward explaining all of the new concepts and the ambitious goals I have for the project.
Right now, OpenLoopz is in alpha, meaning it is available to try out and to get a feel for the concepts and for testing purposes, but it’s not yet ready for general use. The current (tentative) plan is to release a beta early in the new year, followed by a final 1.0 release in the summer. In the mean time, I need to generate as much interest as possible so please - if you like what you see - spread the word! ;-)
The alpha is invite-only at this stage and I will be sending out invites gradually so I can iteratively scale-up the backend without any downtime. However, I wanted to give everyone in this forum an invite from the off as a way to thank you all for supporting OpenLoopz over the years. So if you are a member at time of writing, please submit your email address at http://www.openloopz.com/welcome and I will send you an invite via email.
Finally, I just want to make it clear I haven’t forgotten about mobile! Mobile has been a major design consideration throughout development of the backend and I hope to have a demo of the Android version soon. But I still want to focus mainly on the web-app during this alpha/beta period as a kind of sandbox for trying ideas and adjusting things based on feedback. Then I can focus on the mobile versions (Android and iOS are planned) once things settle down post-beta.
I hope you like what I have developed so far. As always, if you have any feedback - good or bad - please tell me all about it here on the forum. Or, if you have an invite already, just mention me in a loop! My user tag is @pd.
Thanks for your support,
Paul Drummond

Hi Paul,
Great news to hear you've been able to spend some more time on this project. I registered my email last night and am truly looking forward to seeing what you've been up to. I know there are a lot of people willing you on, me being one of them :)

Hi Paul, thanks for the mail. Looks like it got filtered by gmail, probably something my end but will let you know if not.
Have tried to register twice and now can't log in. First time my invite expired, second time was successful, followed the confirmation link but when I tried to log in it didn't work. Again probably user error! If you can offer any suggestions I'd be grateful.
Many thanks
Jon

Cheers Paul, one step further. I've got past registering and can see the welcome screen but I'm being logged straight out. Prompt is "You have been logged out. please enter your login details again to continue." Consequently everything below is greyed out and I can't interact with it.
For us alpha users, are you happy dealing with queries on here or would you rather us engage another way?
Jon

No worries Paul, these things are to be expected on an alpha release. Good luck getting it sorted.
