n00b Q - troubleshooting Kinect for XBOX360

Specs:

Kinect for Xbox360

Windows 10 Version 1703 Build 16257.1

Microsoft Kinect 1.0 Beta2 SDK

KinectCam.ax

I'm able to use the Kinect with skype (classic, NOT Windows store app) only. I had tried earlier to use the openkinect drivers but using those, I couldn't get any app to recognise the Kinect as a webcam. Can you please advice as to what I can do to have all apps with camera functionality recognise the kinect? 

If I have failed to specify the problem clearly please let me know.
