Kinect v2 in VM?

Hello everyone,

has anybody had success with running the Kinect v2 in a virtual machine?
I've set up a VMWare Player instance with Win8.1, and you can indeed
connect the Kinect Devkit to the VM and have it show up in the Device
Manager, but any attempts to actually do anything result in error
messages or timeouts...

I'm pretty sure that part of this can be attributed to USB 3.0 still
being somewhat immature, but are there any tricks/workarounds/success
stories?

Hi Florian,

Up to now the only success I've had is with Kinect v1 on VirtulalBox and VMware on Gentoo.

I just recently installed VMWare 10.0. I will try it this weekend and let you know.
