The wrapper can read TIF, which does store 16-bit grayscale.

Try: image_to_j2k -i file.tif -o file.j2k -x index.idx

Then, double check the index.idx for number of components. RGB vs. YUV matters more for progression order.

Hi,

I am relatively new to compression and I apologize if my problem has already been answered. I need to compress and decompress a 16-bit grayscale image losslessly and would like to use OpenJPEG. What I have found and my understanding of OpenJPEG is that it only works if the original image is in the YUV color space? Please let me know if this is correct and if so, if you know of another JPEG 2000 codec/library capable of meeting my needs.

Thanks,
Jim
