As of Jelly Bean, apps like OI Logcat no longer have access to other applications' logs, even with the READ_LOGS permission.

I stumbled into this when gearing up to catch an issue with OI Safe.   Only once in a while can I get it to misbehave and I was hoping to just grab the logs with OI Logcat.   Alas, OI Logcat can't see any logs on my 4.1 Galaxy Nexus.   I'll have to think of another way to get debugging info while out and about and the Safe misbehaves.

I noticed that from time to time in the support group we ask end users to run OI Logcat or similar.  We'll now have to clarify to only run if they are Ice Cream Sandwich or earlier.

Ouch. I would say it sounds like a bad idea, but it seems that has already been said.

It does sound from that thread like they are thinking about alternatives for developers, and that there is one meanwhile: power plus vol up plus vol down is supposed to create an email with logs and other stuff. Perhaps for our uses that will be good enough.
