According to their news release, the second largest telco in Japan,
KDDI, has started supporting OpenID and payment service using the
identifier obtained through OpenID Assertion.
March this year, NTT docomo started to support OpenID.

KDDI together with docomo covers approximately 68% of the Japanese
population, 78% of the Mobile phone users.

Hi Nat,

Great to hear about new implementations of OpenID! Can you describe in more
detail what the "payment service" is?

I think it would be very interesting for users to be able to authorize
payments using their OpenID. Is this what KDDI is doing?

Thanks
Allen
