Hi Andreas,

We've started to paste a bunch of GIS requirements on our wiki:

That is still very unorganized, will try to do more on sorting it soon, and translate most of it into issues in your Trac at

We also did some preliminary thinking around a GeoJSON/MapFish-type client architecture here:

However, that may be quite different from what you had in mind, and I think it is very important we get up to speed on your thinking around architecture and also understand what has already been done with the Leishmniasis Ecomp and the EMS solutions. To get started, we have now checked out your code from the repository at http://svn.opengeo.org/who/

How do we proceed to set that up to run locally (so we can start experimenting with tying it to the DHIS 2 database)?

Regards,
Knut

Hello.
Waht about this product?
http://spagobi.eng.it/ecm/faces/public/guest/home/solutions/spagobi?portal:componentId=portal&portal:action=changeLanguage&portal:language=en

It has a GIS module in order to *geo-referenced* reporting, to publish
data stored in a simple data warehouse over a geographical
representation... but I have not try it yet.

Hi Fabio,

Looks quite good. They seem to be using SVG for the mapping, which is very similar to what we have in our current DHIS 2 GIS module (not OpenHealth). Would be interesting to hear your evaluation of it.

Hi folks,

Thanks Knut for initiating the email. I am cc'ing Johan who has been leading this effort as he is the focal point for this side of the work. (Andreas) It would in deed be a good idea to know exactly what is in scope for GeoEXT and what level of commitment exists from both TOPP and Camp2Camp around this project.

Furthermore, a defined time line (w/ milestones) would be ideal in order to ensure that we can pursue our development with the other components while ensuring that we can deliver solutions for our respective "customers" and stakeholders on-time.

It would also be recommended that everything developed gets properly documented in order to ensure proper use (and re-use). I will see how soon we can post the full set of existing requirements around GIS for OpenHealth, but in the meant time, you should consider that all features existing w/in WHO's HealthMapper and Global Atlas (http://www.who.int/health_mapping/tools/healthmapper/en/ and http://www.who.int/globalatlas respectively) will have to be implemented. Andreas will be reviewing the OpenHealth architecture and source code to evaluate the work required to integrate the revised version of the client into the OHFP code as well as in the long term into the OH platform. It would be good to ensure that we are not investing/putting too much work or effort into this client, if GeoEXT will be providing the same level of functionality (if not more).

From the DHIS/OpenHealth standpoint, what would be good is to ensure that the common roadmap includes all of these aspects (and that they are not looked as one-off solutions being integrated one at a time into either DHIS or OH, but as a complementary component of the common end-product).

Will post more info as soon as possible.

Cheers
/Phil

The list of features shown in the diagram on http://spagobi.eng.it/ecm/faces/public/guest/home/solutions/spagobi is quite impressive - OLAP, reports, maps, dashboards, ETL.

Did anybody download and install this server already - and, if so, what is the experience? (Robustness, ease of install/configuration, level of integration between components etc.).

Thanks

- Jiri

Hello,
I installed and tested SpagoBI on GIS Module. These are my first
impressions:

1. No integration between OLAP queries results and
Geo-referenced\chloroperth maps
2. GIS Module is separated from OLAP Server so it is only possible to
query each single DATA MART and not the whole DWH (so there is no
connection betwwen cube definition and maps)
3. GIS Module is based on SVG. Stop.
4. You must create previously your SVG data and link them (by IDs) to
DATA MART query in the database
5. You can display charts on map (so it should be good in order to
use cartographic dashboards)

I think GeoMondrian is better! Bu t I haven't seen any sample yet.

Bye
