Both clicking and hovering in Openlayers

Hi,

We've seen the need for getting information from a feature both on clicking and hovering, which seems to be scheduled for the 2.8 release of OL:

For the time being, we may just try one of the solutions proposed there.

I am not sure if the SelectFeature control apply here at all. Are you
really working with a vector layer, or do you need this to work with
WMS layers? If the latter, you can use a click and a hover handler. An
example for this can e.g. be seen here:
http://portal.fugroaustria.at/public/

This is good, because even if this will be implemented in 2.8 (which
is unlikely, unless there is some funding or a code contribution), the
proposed solution #1 would still work.
