Hi OpenHDS Members,

I greet you all.  Before we take a break for Xmas, I would want us to look at one more interface of OpenHDS – Household Register.  The Household register is a printout (Book) of all the Location and Individuals that were registered at baseline and during subsequent follow-ups, in Households per location order and their status.  This register, for the purpose of field work schedule and timing, are printed per FWA of some sort.    Apart from printing per FWA, there are instance where one may want to print selected location(s) e.g. a new location registered during the round update, Household(s) e.g. a new household registered during the round updates.

What I see with the OpenHDS Household Register is to print the entire register at a go.  There are no selection criteria to allow for a user to specify.  I wish to therefore, share with you how I handled this in HRS2.  I hope this will be somehow useful to incorporate in the OpenHDS to improve the efficiency and dynamics of OpenHDS.

From the snapshot above any option selected will pop up an input form for the user to input IDs or Codes as:

·         The Community Level option, when selected will pop up a form to enter all FWAs that should be printed.

·         The House (Locations) Level, when selected will pop up a form to enter all Location IDs to be printed for the selected Houses or Compound or Locations

·         The Household Level, when selected will pop up a form to enter all Household IDs to be printed for the selected Households

·         Quality Control is also randomly selection for field work supervision.

Dear Peter,

Many thanks for giving us a well described explanation.

I think we should make sure we explore that since we might have more than 20k household in some of the sites with around 4 people in each household. Extravting this information at a go may be time consuming and also once you have created the PDF and you want to print a specific household going through 20k pages may be a nightmare.

I think we had already put it up as an issue but what you have given will help us come up with an excellent solution. Many thanks.

Regards,

Henry

I agree. This seems like something that would be very helpful to
OpenHDS users.

In OpenHDS, we organize locations based on a location hierarchy. Do
you think it would be helpful to present this hierarchy visually to
users and allow them to select locations? or have them type locations
manually?

Hello Razzak, I can try to help you with the problem you are having.
Please, do you happen to have Skype? My contact name is dave.roberge3

It sounds like you do not have the database connection settings set
properly.

Thanks
Dave
