Dear All,
As part of the development effort to get OpenHDS to function well and efficiently, I wish to introduce a possible of adding a Data Request Interface, a process that is widely done manually by many data extractors of DSS data. Please, your views on this will be most welcome to the developing group, I hope.
Data Request Interface
At the OpenHDS expo, one of the major argument with existing systems was how best to keep data quality high because one of the causes was attributed to data users/managers working directly on the data tables at the back end. This I must say was a necessary evil because systems developed for DSS operations never had any data request interface hence Managers in their quest to answer the numerous dynamic unstructured data request have no option either than “attacking data” from the back end.
With my long experience with DSS activities and a small study I did with the Navrongo system, I wish to share with you how close to I managed this hoping it will be a developing interface for the OpenHDS developers.
Step 1 – Data Warehouse
All Data request should be extracted from an archived most current round data. In that case, when a round is fully completed, that data set is archived in a data warehouse for data request extraction.

Step 2 – Data Extraction
Data request either the entire study area, selected FWA, Locations or Households.
Data request could be all age group or selected age group
Data request could be both gender or selected (M or F)
Data request could be by some percentage randomized or not
Data request could be on some selected variables or all
Step 3 – Output
Output could be electronic, hard copy or both

This data request list could be expanded to include more other option.
Thanks

At time they may request for sample locations or households but that is very uncommon. Yes, they may also specify variable that they will want to have. I did this based on the commonly requested pattern. I hope other sites could come out with what pertain at their sites.
