I have to say, seeing this here (and being described as epic) is pretty much the greatest feeling.

I've been giddy watching people tweet about it.

Great work Matt!

Here's a question, are we interested in modifying this into the framework provided by Hack Tyler (http://sirens.hacktyler.com/) available on GitHub (https://github.com/hacktyler/hacktyler_crime)?

I can lobby to get the FD to release more information such as vehicles dispatched, "code green" (false alarm), and when units are released from scenes.

Another Feb 23 Open Data Day project?

I guess I'm not seeing what the benefit would be to port it to another framework?  It's hard for me to tell, though, as there are no active calls right now, so I don't see what extra benefits are given by that.
(On top of that, I'm not really a Python guy, so it's taking me a bit to grok the code)

False Alarms are reported through @HFS_Incidents, but knowing what units are at the scene, and when units are released would be great.

Matt,

Thanks, I was tossing the framework out there as an idea.

Code Green is slightly different than the "false alarm" update on the twitter feed. "Code Green" is when they slow down to an alarm condition based upon confirmation from the site there is no fire. "False Alarm" comes after arrival and inspection.

In terms of more info, there is definitely a lot of interest by Fire commanders in your map and plenty of positive remarks at City Hall.

It is rather awesome :-)

Wondering if you could include a license file in the repo though; I've
taken a couple quick looks through the code but I'm unsure where to
find this information.

Sure, I can include a license.  I'll include the WTFPL later today.
