Hi All -

here's a more detailed update on the WardReps project.

Since the Open Data hackathon we loaded Guelph ward data & council
data into DataDOTgc test container & have a working Beta of the app
pulling from it. here's the BETA of the app:
http://www.wardrep.ca -- use Guelph address, like: 107 Woodlawn Road
West, Guelph, ON

It uses the data for the ward + council for Guelph only (at this
point), which was uploaded to the DataDOTgc catalogue (test container
at this point):

Here's Ward Rep data: http://datadotgc.cloudapp.net/DataBrowser/def/WardReps#param=NOFILTER--DataView--Results

Now that the data is in an accessible format (we can access it using
APIs from applications, like mobile or web), we are able to query the
data using WarRep.ca and also mobile applications (Mark Arteaga built
a fully functional mobile application for Windows Phone). Any takers
to build an iPhone app?? no pressure :)

At this stage, we’d love to add more data sets like Hamilton’s ward &
council data, as well as Oakville data. Anyone in Hamilton / Oakville
would like to help out with this? We're potentially exploring getting
Oakville Ward data from the City (very early discussions), but if all
fails, we'll need to "scrape" or digitize the data for Oakville, just
like Mike D. did for Milton. Thanks Mike!! Here's the end result of
his hard work:

We're getting close to wrapping this up. Any feedback, suggestions,
questions or comments are most welcome (please utilize the blog or
this group): http://openhalton.ca/projects

THANKS!!

Nik
