If anyone has thoughts about the future of OpenHAK hardware, this is the spot for it. Biggest update would be to the radio module. There are lots of options these days. Right now I'm looking at nRF52840. Adafruit has a module

The Femtobeacon is looking pretty good, but I'm not sure when it will be back in stock.
