Hi,

My weatherstation is feeding openhab2 via rest API to update the values of the various items that each sensor corresponds to. I'd like to be able to display that data in the paper UI, but it seems like it only deals with Things. Is there a simple way to create a thing for a bunch of items in order to display it in the paper UI or is this not the right approach at all? Does the paper UI support charting in some forme?

Thanks

Hi Georgi,

You do not need Things here at all, simply use items, which you can then update through the REST API.
In order to make individual items appear in the Paper UI, you have to assign them to a a Group item with the „home-group“ tag - these are the ones displayed as tabs on the control ui (see e.g. https://github.com/openhab/openhab2/blob/master/distribution/openhabhome/conf/items/demo.items#L5).
No, the Paper UI does not support any charting yet - better go for the Classic UI in this case.

Regards,
Kai
