Simulation of a Smart Home with OpenHAB

Hi guys,

did I understand it correct that if I send commands with the "OSGI Console" I could simulate how a OpenHab powered Smart Home would react. I have in mind that I create an simulation Smart Home and don't use real devices but do some simulation with them. 

Is somebody of you already working on such topics?

Hi Philipp,

Yes, absolutely, this is one of the core ideas of the openHAB event bus - it does not matter from where the events come - be it a binding (with physical devices), a console (through manual input) or a rule (to simulate device behaviour).

Actually, you can regard our demo server (http://demo.openhab.org, which runs the demo files) as a simulated Smart Home - there is no hardware involved, only the webserver :-)

What exactly are your plans on this "topic"?
