I´m currently looking for a solution to get a tablet waked up in case of motion detection of an IP cam.
Is it possible to create such a rule within openhab?

Currently we´ve an Android tablet hanging on the wall with very useful things like calendar, internet radio, weather and openHab.
So I would like to enhance this with video surveillance like described above. If someone is moving in front of our front door, tablet should wake up and show me the picture.

PS: Currently I don´t have a cam, still looking around for one, so recommendations are welcome! (outdoor & wlan MUST)

Thanks!

I would use Tasker to wake up the tablet.
As soon as openhab gets the state "motion on front door" (or something like that)  you could send anotification to your tablet.
Tasker can trigger on this notification and turn on the screen.

This should work in theory. :)

Hi!

For some reason openhab notifications will not trigger the tasker "on notification" events in my setup ... do you have it working?

Thank you.

Warm regards,

I have not tried this.
My answer was just hypothetical. :)

So, no chance to wake up? probably with a wake-on-lan message?

As Christoph mentioned, Tasker can wake up your tablet.

The question is how are you going to interface it to OpenHAB?

Wake-On-LAN is designed to power up a host, not trigger anything in the operating system or running applications.

Cheers,

Greg
