Hi !

I'm investigating into controlling my Samsung TV which can use Anynet+. I'm abel to controll the off status which was the easy part. The problem is as people already noticed that the NIC is shutdown when powering off.
What is the best workaround to that problem ? My TV is connected to a Denon AVR X1000 (which afaik also cannot send a HDMI CEC or similar command to wake the TV).

A very long time ago I came across an ethernet-CEC bridge (don’t remember name, but google will help you out), which you can control via TCP, but is was a rather expensive solution (e.g. >300 EUR).
As alternative you can switch on via infrared, that is what I do with my Samsung TVs. There is no other real solution

you mean an additional infrared device or with the normal remote control ?

Indeed, an additional device like IRtrans (I wrote a binding for that IR transmitter)

seems like this is also quite expensive for a simple thing like turning on a TV :)
Is there also a cheaper solution compared to IRtrans ?
I plan to also include a Intel NUC to provide a Plex PHT.
Any idea how I could use that to turn the TV on ?

additionally I read that it could be done via a HDMI-CEC command (through that libCEC) with a RaspberryPI. Anyone has experiences with that ?

I'm doing exactly that.  I have one raspberry pi hooked on every TV at home.

Using a command line utility called "cec-client" I can turn ON/OFF all the TVs and I can query if they are ON/OFF too (eg: turned on with the remote control).

I'm using the exec binding to call cec-client thru SSH.

I have plans to write a cec2mqtt utility to make this process easy.

Hi Renato !

Sounds great - will try it .
I'm still thinking about using the USB CEC Adapter from Pulse8 over a Raspberry PI as I would connect my Intel Nuc with that USB adapter to the TV.
Will give some feedback as soon as I have tried it :)
