I can give you two links and you then have to tell me, if they give at least some answer to your question, ok? :-)

Best regards,
Kai

i Kai,

thanks for pointing me to the thread i were already there and to the article... as i understud, the core will be more or less the eclipse smarthome or lets say the framework for home automation system, so with version 2.0 of openhab the engine will the eclipse smarthome project ...

what status does the eclipse smart home project has ? i it more or less the openhab project i have seen the downloads on the eclipse smart home, the names are the some we have here for openhab....

what is unclear for me, do i have to or should i switch in future to eclipse smart home ? at the moment i really think about the discussion we have half a year ago with storing future values (wheather forcasts) to the database, now i have more time for that... do i have to think about where and in specal how i have to implement that ... as binding, because the binding will stay mor open than eclipse home. i had some changes to the persistence extensions or may be they are needed ... whe takes care and at least decides what will be in the eclipse smart home integrated ... the sources will be so if there are some things not implemented in eclsipse smart home im ay compile my own fork of it like i do with openhab....

where can i see a roadmap / status of the project ? i couldn't found easily here, may be this should be clearer then now, maybe on top of the wiki ?? i wa soff topic may be for half an year and it is not so easy to return ;-)

Hi,

what status does the eclipse smart home project has ? i it more or less the openhab project i have seen the downloads on the eclipse smart home, the names are the some we have here for openhab….

The main idea is that the designer is build and provided from Eclipse SmartHome and openHAB won’t need a different one at all. For the runtime, the one at Eclipse can be ignored - the main deliverable from there is a p2 repository that will be used in the openHAB 2.0 target platform.

what is unclear for me, do i have to or should i switch in future to eclipse smart home ?

No. For most people who develop bindings and other addons, openHAB is the right place to be. Only if things in the core architecture are concerned, you should head towards Eclipse SmartHome. Just as you would have to do today if you want something changed in the rule syntax, which e.g. comes from Eclipse Xbase.

where can i see a roadmap / status of the project ?

Just created it for Eclipse SmartHome: https://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseSmartHome/Roadmap

i couldn't found easily here, may be this should be clearer then now, maybe on top of the wiki ?? i wa soff topic may be for half an year and it is not so easy to return ;-)

I plan to have a starting snapshot of openHAB 2.0 based on Eclipse SmartHome 0.7.0-SNAPSHOT in about 2-3 weeks - as soon as this is there, I will provide more infos about the effects and the future roadmap of openHAB.

Best regards,
Kai
