Great work guys on the OpenHab project, very impressed and just a newbie at Java. Just recently got a Z-Stick and have a Kwikset lock to play with, however apparently the Kwikset is the worst for setting up. I have redirected my efforts to learning the system by way of exploring the Pioneer binding, however can only get a telnet session to the VSX-1023 with port 8102 instead of the default 23. When I change in the config file, it appears to send commands, however does nothing to the receiver.
Power on commands as "PO", Power Off is "PF" and query is "?P" Tried changing the commands using the advanced commands"#" with no luck.
Any suggestions?

Patrick,

does sending commands via telnet have any effects to the receiver? Can you for example turn it on/off manually via telnet?

For testing under linux commandline, this should turn on the receiver:

/bin/echo -ne PO\\r | nc -w1 $IP $PORT | head -n 1

For more detailled logging information, please set the loglevel of the binding to debug by adding this to your configuration/logback.xml:

<logger name="org.openhab.binding.pioneeravr" level="DEBUG" />

And post the output from startup.

From time to time my VSX-921 simply hangs up and won't accept commands either. Then power cycling the hole thing (really pulling out the power cord, normal standby is not sufficient) is the only way to get it back working. Happens once a month or so with my AVR.

Regard,
Rainer

Rainer,
Thanks for the note, I went back and loaded everthing from scratch again and now appears to be working fine. I noticed ine debug that OH was loading the default.cfg as well as my newly created one and maybe caused some issues. Along with being a newbie. Sorry for the false alarm.
Cheers
