Is anyone interested in or already working on a Freeswitch and/or FusionPBX binding ?

Although I have run Asterisk in the past, I have long since migrated to running FreeSwitch & Fusion/PBX

I'm no voip or Java expert, but I have tinkered some getting Asterisk and FreeSwitch/FusionPBX running so I'm happy to help out with testing/integration. I've only just started climbing the openHAB ladder and I'm yet to setup a full Eclipse dev environment for it, but when I do I may also be able to assist with some code in time.

If there is interest then I guess it will need to be setup on the issue tracker.

cheers Denis

Hi Dennis,

welcome to openHAB :-)

AFAIK, there are no activities around FreeSwitch or FusionPBX.

Regarding IDE. Did you notice our openHAB.yoxos Profile?

Hi Thomas,

Thank you for the welcome.

So sounds like I will have to be a pioneer if I want my Freeswitch connected :-)

I haven't heard about yoxos, I get a few hits on goole so I'm not sure you are talking about the same things. Is there a wiki page with basic steps for dec setup with yoxos ?

regards Denis

i would like to transfer telephone calls directly in the provider switch, do have experiences on that ?

Hi Lars,

I do apologise for my tardy response.

I have previously used Asterisk and after someone suggested Freeswitch, I did some reading and from an architectural design point of view and also stability, it seems superior. Apparently one of the original authors was an Asterisk developer who got frustrated by flaws in the core Asterisk design. Since I design and build software for a living, I do lean towards architecturally  better implementations and simpler, cleaner designs, even if I do not have a use for some of the features. After all my one PSTN + VoiP line setup at home will hardly exercise or stress any of these :-) As for ISDN, I do not know specifically as I have no need for ISDN, but a quick look on the FreeSwitch WIKI suggests there is very strong support for telco grade ISDN via FreeTDM & the Sangoma ISDN module, more here: http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FreeTDM

Hi!

Just an off-topic question: I have at home an Asterisk Server running as a GSM Gateway, using an old Nokia Mobile Phone via bluetooth (because my "land-line" is GSM) and some SIP extensions (SPA-3000 and Android phones).

That's all I do with asterisk, just a GSM Gateway to SIP extensions.

I'd love to better integrate it with OpenHAB, but the Asterisk binding is not as features-rich as the freeswitch binding.  Does Freeswitch supports a GSM Trunk via bluetooth? I'd love to switch to it.

Thanks
