openhab and Siemens Logo 0BA7

Hey folks,

Just curious whether openhab can be connected to Siemens Logo SPS.

New version 0BA7 comes with onboard LAN interface, so interfacing in general should not be a problem I guess.

Is there a special binding necessary or does it work with general interface bindings already available.

Hi,

There isn't any dedicated binding for the logo yet, but I think it would make sense to create one (instead of trying to integrate it through the generic TCP binding). This way it would be reusable by others and not specific to a single installation.

Do you feel fluent in Java/OSGi? Then have a go :-)

Hi Kai,
I am new to openhab, actually just found it few weeks ago and just excited. Have setup openhab on a linux and played around with it. That is all my experience so far and I must admit I am not fluent in Java/OSGi coming from C/C++ world.

So although I would love to, it would be tough to impossilbe for me to create a binding for Siemens Logo without any help.

What I probably could do is support the integration of logo commands, once the framework for the binding is there. Hope there are others out there who are interested to get a binding for Siemens Logo. I might try the German board to see whether there are others with same interest

Is your Logo able to communicate via MODBUS protocol? If yes then you can use the MODBUS binding.
I found some discussion around Logo and modbus here (in German) but I don't know if it works:

I am using the modbus protocol to communicate with a Wago 750-881 PLC and it works.
