Fist of all: Great binding!!
But I got some notes about it.
  1. There was no wiki page for the binding.
    Now there is. ;) https://github.com/openhab/openhab/wiki/Logitech-Harmony-Hub
I copied the description from here and added the syntax for multiple hosts/hubs.
Please feel free to change or add anything to the page. I am only using the binding for three hours. ;)
  2. As you can see above, the description on github needs to be updated for multiple hosts.
  3. Will the binding be integrated in openhab 1.7?
  4. How can I create a single item to get AND set activities.
I know I can create separate items to set each activity
  5. What does org.openhab.io.harmonyhub do??

So this binding has not been merged/accepted, hence why the wiki page is not on the main site.  We do have a page, its at https://github.com/digitaldan/openhab/tree/harmony-pr/bundles/binding/org.openhab.binding.harmonyhub. As soon as this is merged, I will post it up on the main site.

There is a huge list of PRs that Thomas and Kai need to review, so I don't know when this will be merged in.

Let me know if your questions are not answered after looking at the official readme, the io package provides methods that can be called in rules.

In the meantime I would appreciate if you would remove the wiki page, I will put the contents of the readme up once its appropriate and cloudbees starts generating packages people can download.

Thanks!

The official readme does indeed answer my questions. :)

I removed the wiki page as requested.
I understand its better to wait until the binding is official.

Thanks.

Hi,

I was thrilled to see this binding.

One questions:
I would like to sense by OPENHAB a key press on my Harmony remote and trigger a rule.
From the wiki, it seems that only key press can be sent to Harmony Hub but not the other direction.

Is this understanding correct?

regards Martin

Hi Martin, unfortunately the harmony hardware does not send out button presses on the API that we are using, the only thing we can receive are the activity events and the config json that describes what button presses and activities are available.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the fast reply.
Its a pity that this option is not supported. It would have been really useful for me.
But maybe as time goes by ....

The workaround I am using now, is to send a sequence of volume up and volume down to my sonos speaker and detect this sequence to switch the light.
Pretty slow reaction and also only working, if at least one scene is active at Harmony.
