Dear OGDers,

Here's a free webinar for Tuesday (9/29), sponsored by Microsoft, and featuring Beth Noveck.

When they say "webinar", it is not cIear (i.e., transparent) where there will be any participation (e.g., collaboration) with the attendees.  Hopefully, at the very least, there will be Q&A so that they can provide further clarification of their thoughts (but not yours).

Gov 2.0: The Collaborative Opportunities of Open Government

Tuesday, September 29, 2009 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EDT

To register:  https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/757793056

A Conversation with Beth Simone Noveck, US Deputy Chief Technology Officer for Open Government and Andrew Rasiej, Founder, Personal Democracy Forum. Moderated by Renee Hopkins, editor of Strategy & Innovation.

On his first day in office, President Obama signed a memorandum, “Transparency and Open Government,” which calls for creating an “unprecedented level of openness in Government” and establishing “a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration.” Nine months into his administration, it’s clear we are in the midst of both a critical cultural and technological shift in the U.S.

Please join us for a webcast on September 29 at 1:00 p.m. EST that will feature Beth Noveck, US Deputy CTO for Open Government and author of "Wiki Government" and Andrew Rasiej, Co-founder of the Personal Democracy Forum, an annual conference and website covering the intersection of politics and technology.

Among the topics to be addressed:
• Transparency: How are government agencies, and those that service them, becoming more transparent? To what extent are they embracing and embodying this shift in thinking? Are there any limitations?
• Collaboration: How do you jump from transparency to collaboration? What are some of the ways the government can connect people and organizations to the content, issues, and communities they care about and want to improve?
• Technology: New technologies are playing an essential role in bringing the vision of open government to life through new tools and applications. How can organizations capitalize on the vast expansion of opportunity?
• Risk-Management: How do we balance privacy and security with data and transparency?
• Programs: What kinds of programs has the government already put into play? What’s worked and what hasn’t? What’s next?

If that link doesn't work, then try this one:

I'm going to try to do both, and would like to
hear what you think of the presentations.
