Dear OGDers,

So, it looks like the draft OGD will not be put out for public comment.  (I thought I heard that somewhere).

Anyway, according to the articles below, the finalized OGD will come out in "literally weeks".

Also worth noting is that each federal agency will have to "engage the public in developing open government plans". 

That means, instead of commenting on a draft of the Open Govt. Directive, we will now have hundreds of separate opportunities to "engage" with all the federal departments and agencies as they try to figure out what they are supposed to do.  (Woo-hoo!)

Please share any information any news about the OGD with the group here.  It's been quiet lately, but you should definitely be seeing more email from the group in the coming weeks.

The Office of Management and Budget is a few weeks away from releasing an Open Government Directive that outlines steps federal agencies can take to "hardwire the capability" for transparency, collaboration, and participatory government into their organizations and processes, federal CTO Aneesh Chopra said Wednesday at the Gov 2.0 Summit in Washington.
