Hi there!

There are two types of layers. The first is base layer, and second is overlay. Only one base layer can be attach on the globe in one time. Layer constructor option is isBaseLayer: true. Like here:

You can mix overlays like in this example with opacity:

and CanvasTiles example, where you could create custom mix of any tile set:
