Blacklight, OpenGeoportal, and Hydra Community,
This message is being cross posted to several lists so I apologize for any duplicate messages. Over the past several months in partnership with other institutions, we have been working on a concept design document for a software project we are calling GeoBlacklight. GeoBlacklight is an open source, multi-institutional discovery platform for geospatial (GIS) holdings that builds on the successful OpenGeoportal, Blacklight, and Hydra projects. This design document reflects the following work thus far:
- Multi-institutional stakeholder and user interviews
- Collaborative metadata standard schema design
- Rapid prototyping
- Exhaustive environmental scan
- Feedback integration from stakeholders and other institutions
We wanted to present it to a broader audience to obtain feedback from the broader communities as we move forward on design and an installable beta. The document linked below contains the following:
- An overall project description
- Problem statement
- Environmental scan overview
- End user personas
- Stakeholder personas
- Feature list and prioritization
- Additional enhancement applications

Please feel free to add comments to the document, respond to the email lists, or contact me individually with any feedback/questions/comments.
