No fear, you have not. We are not G4 or Orakill. This is A+B becoming C not A+B becoming the new A.

If you have any worries just voice them to me and I will clear them up and/or eat them if they are stubborn X3

nice to meet you ^_^

I need to get new Chrome OS and Honeycomb ISO... the android emulator just doesn't cut it.

I am sure after we get the first version of our linux out that we will be happy to work on variants with KDE and XFCE and whatever else seems worthwhile to invest resources in.

Former position in Ufurmix or CreatureS: made a FurMix logo screen saver and worked as a project leader for a short time as a last futile effort to keep furmix its own project before the project was given to CreatureS... i obviously failed in this effort... but i have an open mind on this "merge" and im ready to help out in any way i can.

Man you make it sound like you just got snatched by M$. I swear i am not gates... but i am no crazy RMS... maybe Trovalds without the whole Finnish recluse thing.

We are now a whole new project, the merge was mutual. We both gained and lost some. But we are going to make a better OS then we could alone. Don't think of this has a buy-out, think of it as two groups of linux loving fuzzballs banding together to make the best OS for the fandom.

Hehe, i think you are the oldest one here.

Depends on what is, likely i would.

I might need to post a little more about me, i so you all know some of the general knowledge stuff that will likely start to pop-up about me once this project gets popular (and trolls start sending pizza to my house).

Orientation: Asexual/straight (RL), Bi/Tri (online)
Religion: Mormon (RL, not anti-gay, i love my gay friends), Agnostic (online)
Weird stuff i like: Soft vore (cartoonish), Paws, Macro/micro.(yesh I know I am weird.)
I am open to doing all kinds of stuff in RPs when online but doesn't mean I like it,

On that subject feel free to contact me for personal or professional reasons, I like to talk.

Sorry this is a kinda odd post, but I let you know this stuff now since it will easily come out about me later, and to show that trust you all. I mean if Theyain can trust you with the fact he does a bit of drag I can trust you with

As an added bonus half the silly stuff I say will now make sense.

okay wolfi, would you be interested in helping me make an amplet that can synch up with FA and give updates? FA runs SQL witch i have a very basic idea how sql works. but i think i could really use your help on the application... it will eventually be able to sych up with other furry networks like so furry and furspace ect.. but FA is basic and simple and very popular a great starting point for this portion of the project. granted, we do need to figre out what linux distro were going to be tearing appart to buld this new and improved furry OS... ideas?
PCLOS is a very decent OS maybe a good choice for our project. its bult on KDE...

Sure, ill help (as long as i have time and i know how). Thats why we are here, isnt it? XD

In my opinion, the os to go from... itll be good to use one widely extended, and keep it compatible with its programs; that will make it easyer for users to migrate from one to other, withowt problems of missing favourite programs and so. As for that, the most used desktop distro, for people that dont know ahything or almost anything its Ubuntu (as far as i know).
I dont know PCLOS, but if its as widely used, its a good choice too.

the questions we should keep in mind are:
-What users want from a new os?
-What users expect from a furry os?

Some answers i know:
-What users want from a new os?
        - Quick.
        - Stable
        - Easy to use and learn

-What users expect from a furry os?
        - Well looking
        - With furry stuff
        - With free and easy to install design programs

But as i guess this is not the place to place sugestions or anything i better stop writing stuff XD
So... when do we start with the FA sync thing?

frankly... i think we need to do something unique. not "just another ubuntu clone"  i see no point in making another ubuntu clone. we already tried that. and it didnt work out because nobody saw the point in another ubuntu clone.
were going for a new UI feel this go round
one that will give sleek clean un cluttered hastle free... a similar feel as android but will still hold all the functionality of a standard desktop UI... we gotta bring somethign to the table. nobody cares about seeing the same old thing. and if we dont make something unique we will end up RAIGHT back where we were 4 weeks ago.
and im not letting that happen again if we keep that pattern up were gonna be even more of a joke than we already are.
so. were ditching the standard desktop UI and merging it with a simple all in one solution...one THAT GOES ON A DVD!!! lol
as far as programs... we will be running in standard debian most likely so anything that runs on debian can run on our system... with just a few mods to the layout of the window...firestorm SL viewer will be something standard we will include in the distro... some one make a note of that.
but if we make ufurmix over again, nobody is gonna care. were doing a COMPLETE REVAMP PEOPLE!!!
it will be a challenge and it will take a while...but we cant be lazy and we are working on getting the people we need to do this.
we are not cloning ore re-theming an existing OS were building a new one using parts of an existing one as foundation.

as far as the FA sych goes... we can start researching... start by reverse engineering the FA database system and finding out how it retrieves data.. like messages ect... and write a program (C++ most likely) that can communicate with said databases and retrieve the same info and make it available on the dashboard without having to be visiting the site.

so far as ive seen by examining the source code FA runs off SQL and does not retrieve data to place on the page. but generates the page from scratch and places raw numbers in where your messages comments ect are on your right top corner unlike older database systems like myspace used to use. where you have a "get" function.. but further examination is needed... i dont know much about SQL

I dont meant to make a theme of ubuntu, or domwthing like. I meant to make our system fully, or almost fully compatible with all the ubuntu programs, without the end user having to compile em or something to fit our newly build OS. What does that means?
Well, probably a bit or more of a bit more job and time to get it done but, at the end, well have a system that, dont makes a user lazy to migrate to.
Of cuourse, making new GUI or wathever, but keeping it compatible with ubuntu programs or something;  i dont know right now how to make that, but am sure it isnt as hard as it looks like.

Just as an idea / example / something (just too tired to think clearly):
    - We use some weird new window system; we can keep a second like GNOME and call it just when needed, and close it at app end.
    - We have some weird other thing that is not compatible; we do something like before

As i said, i dont have my mind too operative right now, but there is the idea; plus am not sure how GUI works.

As for the FA sync... i dunno how fa its maded... but they have a database that uses SQL 99% sure. They have an api to access to ir? dunno.
But someone will have to ask FA and find how we should start. We also need to get this thing started at some point... so... How, when, where, what, who, and why? XD

All this UI thing reminds me of Pantheon Shell, they seem to be doing something like that. It's very modular unlike other shells, so it should make a good base.
