Hi
I am thinking about starting up a business in urban farming. I am at the ideation stage. A few questions already:  how to find a co-founder? which are the suitable accelerators? what are the potential relevant partnerships with universities? any tip you would already have ?
Thanks for advising

To find a co-founder, you could try volunteering to organise an agri-tech flavoured event with an organisation like ACE

With some experience in the Agritech field.

1. You can first of all look at agfunder ( https://agfunder.com/ ). They are quite good.
2. Second is Thrive Agritech ( https://thriveagrifood.com/ )
3. Third is Yield Agritech ( https://www.theyieldlab.com/ )
4. Another one is Rockstart ( https://www.rockstart.com/ )

It depends upon what your goal is in Urban farming. Some people are doing indoor ( hydroponics, aquaponics, Greenhouse ) and some are doing open fields. Jargon wise its Seed to plate.

We can discuss more over the email.

Thanks

With regards.

Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the
round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently --
they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify
or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they
change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see
them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough
to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.

In Australia and also Waikato, NZ, there's a specialist Accelerator which focuses only on agTech. You are more likely to find comparable interests and possible co-founders at those two. However, b4 you jump in and start brain-storming, I'd encourage you to think about the Why? Why do people want urban farming? Off top head
- community garden ... the crop output is secondary to bringing a neighbourhood together
- special interest ... eg flower cultivators or fresh herbs for foodies
- economic - waste space with high transport costs for perishables
- utility - eg plants for office hire

I'm sure you've got more ... because once you truly understand why, then you can figure out painpoints and what people are willing to pay to achieve their goals. This is a useful diagram I show to founders to get them on a decent foundation. Remember, apart from hobby lifestyle business, the point of a **business** is to satisfy a (paying) customer so you need to think about who they are before the rest of the pillars.
