Hi

I'd like to continue the discussion of the proposed Open / Save As File dialogs and a Virtual File System API.

The current proposal requires Service Providers to create GUI for Users to browse and chose files for sharing with the Client. This GUI assumes that Service Provider is able to browse the files and issue permissions to CRUD these files to third party clients. Therefore, if the Service Provider already have this functionality, I think that the OpenFile spec can actually standardize both - the browsing interface (open / save as dialog) and the Virtual File System API.

Think about it, there is already an open standard for Identification (OpenID) and Authorization (OAuth), but there is nearly nothing for Data or Web File System. Unless I'm much mistaken, it seems like we have a rare opportunity to propose a standard for something really useful and important.

We in G.ho.st have our own virtual file system and will soon open it according to a community-grown free open source standard. We prefer to make it with OpenFile.

What do you think?

This is definitely the goal for OpenFile! I am working on a better
introduction section to highlight what you've just said.

Excellent. Today I'm going to propose a few changes with the spec to
make it even more standards-compliant and would appreciate your
feedback; ttyl.
