EVSE state during sleep?

I want my Open EVSE to send me an email (text message would be better but email is OK) if the vehicle is not plugged in at... say 9:30 at night. I can set a schedule in EmonCMS, and I can set it up to send an email during the scheduled time based on the value of an input. The problem is - it appears that EVSE state is 254 (sleeping) any time except the scheduled charging time.

Is there any way to monitor the state of the EVSE during sleep?
