Grey: 50 Shades of Grey as told by Christian, and named after the heroine of the trilogy, is an erotic romance written by British writer E. L. James. It's the fourth novel in the Fifty Shades of Grey series, and is the second of the trilogy, which focuses on Anastasia Steele. She is a young, beautiful, and wealthy woman who owns a stake in an experimental new textile manufacturing business. When her husband comes out with an offer to make their investment worth more than they thought possible, she's not sure that she can resist it.

The story begins in the present day and takes place in a small rural town called Grey Gardens, where Anaesthetia and Christian are visiting after getting away from their marriage. They discuss the possibility of making Grey Gardens a family destination, and Christian has an idea for an exciting fairytale tale about the textile industry of the area. Meanwhile, Anaesthetia gets a chance to sample her friend's line of perfume, and their discussion inspires her to create a dazzling initial social display at the local fashion show, in which all eyes are on her. Things quickly take a turn for the worse when Anais falls for a man called Jamie.
The novel's plot revolves around the question of how to maintain a loving relationship when there is constant tension between two people. Anaesthetia discovers that Grey Gardens has a stable, if not rich, economy, and Grey Garden's owner, Jamie, makes a point of regularly donating money to charities, including one particularly lovely piece of art made by a young woman of the same name, called the Dragon's Breath. Grey Gardens also benefits from the presence of its stable owner and his faithful butler, fed on food and wine provided by Jamie. In a nutshell, this book is about good relationships.
