The Magic of Thinking Big by David J. Schwartz is a short book that I picked up recently because it is so easy to read. After all, with as little as 500 pages, this is a quick read for me. What I love about The Magic of Thinking Big is that David J. Schwartz does not try to reinvent the wheel, he just gives you an idea and a few tips to get started with. After reading through it a couple times, it is very easy to incorporate this into your daily life, no need to go out and start doing crazy stuff just to impress people. You will just be making yourself look more foolish.

What makes this book so great is that David J. Schwartz did not set out to write an encyclopedic text on the subject of public speaking. He instead wanted to give you a simple idea that will help you improve your skills so that you can talk to as many people as possible. That's not too difficult to do given that you can use this as a springboard to start talking to others more confidently. There are even exercises at the end of each chapter that have you speaking aloud in front of a friend or family member. The exercises at the end to show you what kind of things you should be talking about to help yourself feel more confident, and they also give you a chance to see how your friends or family members react when you are speaking your mind.
The way that The Magic of Thinking Big motivates its readers is that each chapter ends with a "pose." You then have 5 seconds to answer the question posed to you. You only get one chance at it, so you have to make the best of it. If you mess up, you may find yourself standing alone with a few people looking at you with envious eyes. In fact, many of the people who have read this book have used it as a springboard into bigger and better things. For someone looking for a simple tool to use to improve their confidence levels, The Magic of Thinking Big by David J. Schwartz is a great place to start.
