Hi there,

The next release candidate of Ironwood is available: open-release/ironwood.1rc2. Ironwood is the next release of Open edX, and it's important that everyone test it.

To install it on an Ubuntu 16.04 system, see the Native installation instructions, and use OPENEDX_RELEASE=open-release/ironwood.1rc2 .  These instructions have changed since Hawthorn, and even since the first release candidate of Ironwood, so please try them.  This is a test of the instructions and the code!

If you find a problem, or have a question, you can discuss it in the #ironwood-beta channel in Slack or report it in JIRA.  If you try Ironwood, and don't have any problems, it's really helpful to report that too :)

Thanks, your feedback is really important.

Hi Ned,

Are there plans for getting Ironwood working on devstack for easier testing on a local environment?

Yup, the Ironwood Docker images are on Dockerhub now.

So to test Ironwood locally using Devstack, we would just replace hawthorn.master with ironwood.1rc2 in steps #4 and #5 of these instructions? https://edx.readthedocs.io/projects/edx-installing-configuring-and-running/en/latest/installation/install_devstack.html

In this case you have to replace hawthorn.master with ironwood.master.

There are no docker images tagged 'ironwood.1rc2', and the scripts use the same variable for cloning/checking out the repos and for pulling the docker images.

looks like the Docker image has been tagged with "ironwood.master" on Docker Hub:

Hey all, my apologies, history repeats itself!  Ironwood RC2 did not install well, for exactly the same reason that Hawthorn RC2 did not.  So now we have Ironwood RC3: open-release/ironwood.1rc3  .  This fixes the error where the ecommerce repo wouldn't clone, and ansible would fail.

Please keep testing!
