to Open edX operations
Hi,

I am planning to deploy all open EDX services in single AWS instance. I am new to AWS (Cloud computing itself). It would be great if anyone can answer my following questions.

1. I am planning to subscribe for m3.xlarge(4 core and 15GB RAM) and additional EBS storage in AWS. I would like to understand, why is m3.xlarge is faster when compared to m4.xlarge. The configuration is the same except for the presence of SSD instance storage(provided additionally). How does EDX use this instance storage which leads to efficient processing?. Also, I understand that EBS is persistent storage. Is 2 *40 SSD provided by AWS is also persistent?

2. Currently, we have our edX services, MySQL and MongoDB running on the same server. If I have utilized my EBS storage, and when I purchase additional EBS, should I reconfigure MySQL and MongoDB to address the change? Or will the AWS handle it internally? We are not planning to use that Amazon RDS now and would like to continue to use single server instance for running our platform. Let me know how to handle new EBS storage changes

3. Also, we are planning to run around 10 courses for 100 concurrent users. Any idea on how much EBS is required for this? Will 500GB able to handle it? Any idea on how much outbound traffic might occur?

4. Will m3.xlarge machine be able to handle 100 concurrent users? Till how many users I can use this server?

Looking Forward. Thanks.
