Hi,

We are doing an academic project building a cloud and adding a RADIUS
interface to the metering metrics. We had a smooth run with Eucalyptus
on Ubuntu 9.10, but it lacks the metering metrics. Did not go too far
with it though.

Just stumbled upon OpenECP through Subra's blog (http://
www.cloudave.com/link/openecp-an-enomaly-ecp-fork ) and decided to
give it a try.

We are (going to) trying this on a fresh install of OpenSUSE 11.2,
minimalistic server deployment. Not sure how would it go. We are
seeking any advice or hints to avoid potential stumbling block and get
best practices, etc. Enamoly site lacks completely in this regard.
They also seem to have taken the SourceForge project down.

Hail OpenECP!

Thanks for the works,

Hi Manish,

Thanks for your interest in OpenECP. It's true that the documentation is sadly lacking, however putting together a list of dependencies is high on my list of priorities. I managed to get the daemon up and running on Debian 5.0 without too many issues simply by installing prerequisites (e.g. python, turbogears, etc.) as they came up. The only gotcha was a python module called losetup that appears to have been created by one of the Enomaly developers - you'll likely need to easy_install this as we neutered functionality which allowed python modules to be silently downloaded and installed for (obvious) security reasons.

Please bear with us during the transition period - the docs will certainly improve over time.

Hi Sam,

Thanks for your reply. We can contribute a simple how-to based on our
experience of setting this up. Venu Agarwal is the only member of this
project and I will have her take some screenshots of the process to
accompany the how-to.

We will get back to you with any issues, if any :)

Thanks,

Manish

Hi Sam,

Could you please add some details like the debian version and kernel
versions you got working. This will help us cut the chase.

Thanks,

Manish
