Hello Kripasindhu Sarkar,
I am writing to you to express my interest in contributing to Open Detection as a part of GSOC 2017.
As a precursor to submitting a formal application for GSOC 2017, I would like to introduce myself and outline my interests so that you can better evaluate my candidature.

I am Shrobon Biswas, currently pursuing MSc in Computing Science at the University of Alberta, with a specialization in Multimedia and am a member of the MRC(Multimedia Research Center). As a part of my master's curriculum, I have taken courses on Image Processing, Computer Vision, Virtual Reality, and Artificial Intelligence(Heuristic Search)
I am interested in the following task (as mentioned in the Ideas List)
Development of Examples and Tutorials
  • I have a fair bit of experience with OpenCV as I have been using it for over 2 years, and have authored a video course on Udemy [Hands on Computer Vision with OpenCV & Python] which has a rating of 4.1 over 72 students enrolled.
  • Some of my recent work has been on Machine Learning, and Deep Learning and I am well acquainted with libraries like Scikt-Learn & Keras. (Github Link)
  • Most of my projects are well documented and contain an elaborate README with comments arranged in a tutorial like workflow.
  • I am also acquainted with VTK pipeline as I am currently taking a course on Medical Image Visualization using VTK, for which I am building a GUI tool for easy experimentation with MRI and CT scan data.
I wish to contribute in the future as well, hence I decided to start out with writing tutorials, examples and documentation first so that I can become more familiar with the codebase and the workflow, and at the same time enrich my knowledge. Secondly, most of the previous projects I worked on involved coding in python, so working with a C++ codebase would definitely improve my grasp of the language as well.
