Hi - wondering if I am doing something wrong. Brand new to Opendesk. When I open a dxf in VCarve Pro, the job size is always set to 6180 inches by 4458 inches. I can obviously scale everything down to a 48"x96" size, but why is this happening? Is this normal? I'd rather not scale everything down and risk messing up the design's actual sizing. Please help! Thanks.

Hi Brain,
in Vcarve Pro programs when ever you open a file, automatically appear with a default dimensions length and width (which is the size of the sheet that you are working on ), you can change it manually by change the numbers with yours.as per your sheet size.. no need to scale it .
i hope that clear for you

Thank you for the response. Haytham. Unfortunately I don't know how to change the numbers with yours.as. What is yours.as? Part of the VCarve file system?

I figured it out. The dxf files open in VCarve by default into inches, but the program DOES NOT convert from mm to inches automatically. So a job size that is set at 6180mm shows up as 6180in. All you have to do is open the file, click the mm option in the job set up pane, then hit ok. Then go back into the job set up pane and change to inches.

The dxf file is still much larger than a 96x48 sheet of plywood, but that's how the files are built. One converted, the actual vectors to cut fit nicely in a 96x48 job size once all the text etc is deleted.

Hi Brian,

Glad you figured it out. The files are in mm so if you're Jobs are setup in inches it will import as a huge object. You can scale it down uniformly to fit the 96*48 inch artboard and it should be correct.
