I downloaded the dxf file to cut it on the shopbot, but I am not sure how to scale it properly. I opened the file in illustrator, but I am not sure what how big the legs and seat should be. Could someone please let me know how big the individual pieces are so I can format it correctly in illustrator? Or should I use a different software all together?

Thank you!

Hi,

Happy to help, would you be able to provide a bit more information so we can help you. Perhaps a screenshot of the dimensions you are looking for?

Thanks

Hey Hugh,

Thank you for helping me. Here are two screen shots I've taken. The one titled "1" shows the measurement of the leg; I rescaled it to this size. The one titled "2" shows the measurement of the seat.

Thank you,
Maggie

If this helps, here is the illustrator (.ai) file I've been using.

Hi Maggie,

I've attached dimensioned drawings for you. You are very close just some small adjustment required.

Hello,
I have a related question: what should the thickness of the wood be?
Also, is it possible to use something else? Like plastic? Maybe not for the structure, but maybe for the seating.

Txs,
Rodrigo

The thickness of the wood should be 23/32 inches. I'm not sure if you can use plastic, but I don't recommend it. From my experience making things, if you wanted to use plastic, you should 3D print it or use injection molding rather than cut it -- cutting plastic to make the seat would not be sturdy.

The dxf file for this chair design is not available on opendesk website. Do you think you can provide me with the file?
