Does the API check if the user is already registered?

I was wondering if the API has the ability to check if the user is already registered to vote or not?

I'm no longer on staff at the DNC, but I do not believe that they offer this as an API method. 

Katy and Paul at Turbovote (cc'd) may be able to help. I believe that their API may provide this functionality. 

You could also talk to http://catalist.us/ if you have money to spend.

    If you’re focused on a specific state, you may want to try to get data directly from the Secretary of State’s office.  We were able to do this for WA to power portions of http://www.wa-democrats.info/.  ‘Best—

Hey everyone,

Rob, unfortunately it's not for a specific state but the entire country.

Paul, the link you sent is a blank document.  If you do have documentation on this, it would be really helpful.

Just a little introduction, I'm trying to help out the Muslims For Obama to add a form on the site to get people to register.  So it's for all states. I think what we are going to do is just link to a site that already has voter registration.  People have suggested http://gottaregister.com.  What do you guys think about that?

We do have an API that checks registration status.
