Hi Folks,
I sent a note to Elections BC a few days ago to see if they would be willing to release the election results data as open data for the upcoming provincial election. What I suggested was a live-ish feed of data, like they probably already provide to the media.
They responded positively and said though they don't have the cycles right now to engage in an open data licensing process, however they would be happy to email us the .csv file of the preliminary voting results by electoral district and by candidate on May 16 (two days after general voting day). Two weeks after the final count, a detailed .csv will be posted on their www.elections.bc.ca site.
They said they would consider implementing my suggestion on a trial basis at a future by-election.
I'll post the preliminary data somewhere when they send it, probably on our opendatabc.ca site.
Also, for those that might be interested, Elections BC already also provides a very nice campaign contributions data system here: http://contributions.electionsbc.gov.bc.ca/pcs/ which produces dat in a very easy to use open format.
If anyone knows of any other election related data that's available to the public, please share it.

As promised, from Elections BC:
"...attached are links to the initial count results files for the 2013 general election. The files will be refreshed daily through to the end of final count. Final count results will be published on our website on or around June 12th and will provide more detailed information including results by voting area. "
