Is it worth writting an "obituary" prior to starting

Based on an article in harvard Business Review , I wonder if this is a worthwhile exercise prior to starting a project.

I.e spend some time and image that everything has gone wrong, and write it's obituary. Could this then be used as a reference, for what to avoid in the development process ?
