Hi,

using latest OC beta, i am a bit confused about relay modes AUTO, ASK,
RESTRICTED.

I found http://code.google.com/p/opencollar/wiki/RLVFeatures but that
does not mention them...

I am happy to update the docs (if someone tells me how), but for
RESTRICTED i really need to know what it does.

Cheers, Cruel

It looks like the documentation is a bit scattered in several places
and some bits haven't been updated in a long time :(
For the relay, have a look here:
http://code.google.com/p/opencollar/wiki/BetaUsersGuide#8.5_-_Relay_menu

Also the help notecard in the collar (Menu: RLV->Relay->Help) is more
up to date, in particular the one in the beta collar.

Otherwise, restricted just means that the relay will reject every
command except the ones sent by already known and trusted sources
(owned by your owners or whitelisted).

I hope this helps.

Yeah, really scattered - and  http://code.google.com/p/opencollar/wiki/RLVFeatures  also is not listed in the table of content.

Anyhow, under "8.5 - Relay menu" is says
"Restricted mode enables RLV relay features for authorized objects (whitelisted, or designated by landowner or playful settings)"
This talks about OBJECTS only.

Then under "10.0 - Relay control" is says
"<prefix>relay restricted -- switches to restricted mode, in which the relay will reject every command except from trusted sources"

Sources maybe persons or objects.
I think the owner(s) should be trusted sources also (implicitly "whitelisted" so to say).

I tried to access a collar relay on a sub owned by me, relay mode=restricted and I did not got RLV access through relay.
Owners are trusted sources, isnt it?

Cheers, Cruel.

If a person is trusted, so are all the devices belonging to her ;-)
(anyway, only objects can control the relay). And yes, owners are
automatically trusted.
So are devices from the landowner if you enable the option. All of
this falls under the generic expression "trusted sources".

Feel free to make this more explicit, if you think it is necessary.

Cheers
