AGI-oriented Ai software development on specific projects that are
part of our thrust to make an AGI using the OpenCog. Hyperon

Hi David, yes that email is from me (Ben Goertzel) and not my digital
twin or any unauthorized imitator ;)

I have not been so active on this list lately but have been a lurker
and seen the occasional messages!

Some colleagues and I have been building a new sort of OpenCog system
(Hyperon) and it's not yet scaled up to the level we'd like (that
should come early next year) but it's at a level where one can play
with it from an AI dev perspective... thus these grants being put out
there now...

Hi Ben,

I looked at the projects and talked with some friends about them. I think we are in a good position to take on "Implement clustering heuristics in MeTTa". The team consists of AI graduates and software engineers that have 4-5 years of experience as data scientists and (freelance) software developers. My own MSc project was on topic modeling in which I made use of variational inference and EM algorithm to train a generalization of GMM. However, I wanted to ask some questions before sending our proposal. First, none of us are familiar with the MeTTa language and we have to first learn it, is that a deal breaker? Second, in the description it is mentioned that there is a need for visualization of clusters as well, using t-SNE for example. Is it required from us to implement t-SNE as well? or is it already available in MeTTa? Finally, is it OK if we get the funds through crypto?

Almost nobody outside our team is familiar with MeTTa, and part of our
goal in offering these grants is to get more people more familiar!
So, no problem that you don't know it already...

You don't need to implement visualization tools, this can be done just
by exporting the clusters from MeTTa and using 3rd party viz tools...

It is our preferred method and maybe the only way we do it ;)
